Upcoming Tutor Training Programs
LPNJ is unique among social service organizations in that we offer a free tutoring program for adults who are in need of learning English as a Second Language, or Basic Literacy skills in reading and writing.  They are usually very low-level learners and our program provides a 'safety net' for these learners.  Our trained tutors provide customized instructional plans that meet the goals set by both the tutor and the student.

The Tutor Training program is a 15 hour course.  Trainees are taught the main principles of adult learning and the program is divided into four main content areas:

√  listening skills
√  speaking skills
√  reading skills
√  writing skills

After the trainees complete the course and have completed the required assignments, they are then matched with learners.  LPNJ asks each tutor for a commitment of meeting with their student/small group for a minimum of 2 hours per week for one year.

If you are interested in making a difference in someone's life, please join us for one of our trainings!
